The length and width of the base of rectangular container which has some water in it, are in the ratio 7 : 6.

The base has a perimeter of 312 cm.

(a) Determine the area of the base of the container.

The level of water in the container goes up by 1.3 cm when a solid block is put in the container.

(b) Calculate the volume of the block.
